Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma

Mesenchymal chondrosarcomas are a rare chondrosarcoma subtype.

They are found in both bone and soft tissues (see: extraskeletal chondrosarcoma).

Mesenchymal chondrosarcomas are characterized by bimorphic histology:

  • densely packed small round blue cells similar to those seen in Ewing's sarcoma
  • malignant cartilaginous tumor
Bone tumours

The differential diagnosis for bone tumors is dependent on the age of the patient, with a very different set of differentials for the pediatric patient.
