Metanephric blastema
Metanephric blastema (or metanephrogenic blastema) is one of the two embryological structure that give rise to the kidney, the other one being the ureteric bud.
Related pathology
Persistent metanephric blastema after 36 weeks of gestational age are called nephrogenic rests. They are associated with nephroblastomatosis, and are a precursor lesion to Wilms tumours.
