Omission errors in diagnostic radiology are important to comprehend. The nature in which medical imaging interpretation errors occur can be broken into three types.

Search errors

Search errors involve the reader allocating no time on the location of a lesion/abnormality.

Perceptual errors

Perceptual errors involve the reader dedicating a short amount of time to the location of a lesion/abnormality; not enough time to recognize the lesion.

Decision-making errors

Decision-making errors involve the reader dedicating a longer amount of time to the location of a lesion/abnormality, however, making an incorrect decision as to its relevant identification.
