Oral tori

Last revised by Daniel J Bell on 23 Jun 2022

Oral tori (singular torus) are benign bony outgrowths from the maxilla and mandible:

Oral tori are subcategorised according to their shape 1:

  • flat
  • spindle
  • nodular
  • lobular

The diagnosis of any of these benign exostoses is often incidental, usually during "routine" dental examination, as they tend to be asymptomatic.
