Criteria
- cough/percussion/hopping tenderness in right lower quadrant (+2)
- anorexia (+1)
- fever (+1)
- nausea or emesis (+1)
- tenderness in right iliac fossa (+2)
- leukocytosis (+1)
- polymorphonuclear neutrophilia (+1)
- migratory abdominal pain (+1)
Interpretation
- 0-5 incompatible with acute appendicitis
- 6-10 compatible with acute appendicitis
Scores greater than 7 indicate high probability of appendicitis 1. PAS system has reported sensitivity of 0.87-1 and specificity of 0.59-0.92 1,2.
