Periapical granuloma refers to a localised mass like-like region of chronic granulation tissue in relation to teeth formed in response to the infection. It often results in relation to chronic apical periodontitis.

Terminology

The name of this condition is a misnomer as they are not true granulomas: no granulomatous inflammation is found.

Pathology

They contain granulomatousgranulation tissues, cell infiltrates and a fibrous capsule.
