Post lung volume reduction pulmonary oedema is a type of non cardiogenic pulmonary oedema that can occur following lung volume reduction or a lung resection such as lobectomy or pneumonectomy.

Epidemiology
It has been reported to occur in ~ 5% of right pneumonectomies, ~4% of left pneumonectomies, and 1% of all lobectomies 2.
Pathology
It tends to precipitate in the early postoperative period. Two pathophysiological factors have been proposed 1:
- an increase in pulmonary capillary pressure associated with passage of a normal to high cardiac output in a reduced volume pulmonary vascular bed
- injury to the alveolar capillary membrane
