Postpartum angiopathy

Last revised by Frank Gaillard on 14 Jan 2019

Postpartum angiopathy is a subset of reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS), although is has been described as a separate condition. It is also known as postpartum angiitis and puerperal vasospasm. Please refer to the main article on reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS)

It is worth noting that although its presentation is no different from RCVS as it can occur with preeclampsia/eclampsia, it thus overlaps with the separate condition of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES).
