Prepatellar bursa

The prepatellar bursa is one of the knee bursae. It is situated anterior to the patella, in the subcutaneous tissue. It is often trilaminar or bilaminar 2. It may communicate with the superficial infrapatellar bursa, the deep infrapatellar bursa, and in some cases the articular space 1.
