Prostate-seminal vesicle angle

The prostate-seminal vesicle angle (also known as the prostatoseminal angle ¹) refers to the acute angle posterolaterally between the prostate gland and respective seminal vesicle on each side. The angle is visible due to the periprostatic fat lying between the two structures. The angle is appreciable in the axial plane, whether using transrectal ultrasound (TRUS), CT or MRI. Its importance comes in cases of prostate carcinoma when the normal angle can no longer be seen due to extraprostatic tumor seminal vesicle invasion, which upstages a tumor to T3b ^1,2.
