Pseudopneumoperitoneum

Pseudopneumoperitoneum describes any low attenuation within the abdominal cavity that masquerades as free intraperitoneal gas or pneumoperitoneum. Correctly identifying pneumoperitoneum is important, but making the diagnosis in error may lead to further unnecessary investigation or even surgery 1.
