A psoas hitch is a method of bladder reconstruction following distal ureteral injury.
The reconstruction is indicated when the distal ureter is injured and the non-injured ureter cannot reach the bladder for a ureteroneocystotomy. With the psoas hitch, the bladder is pulled up (along the psoas muscle),to close the distance between the ureter end and the bladder so a ureteroneocystotomy can be performed.
A Boari flap is a similar reconstruction.
