Pulmonary tumoral thrombotic microangiopathy

Pulmonary tumor thrombotic microangiopathy (PTTM) occurs when there are tumor cell microemboli ("non-occlusive" microscopic tumor emboli2) with "occlusive" fibrointimal remodeling in small pulmonary arteries, veins and lymphatics. It is considered one of the processes of microsopic pulmonary tumor embolism. It can be a rare cause of pulmonary hypertension.

History and etymology

It was first described in 1990 by Von Herbay et al. 2
