Pure primary ovarian choriocarcinoma

A pure primary ovarian choriocarcinoma is an extremely rare form of ovarian malignancy. It falls under the sub category of ovarian germ cell tumours.

They are thought to to account for less than 1% of ovarian tumours.

They are a type of non gestational choriocarcinoma. As with other choriocarcinomas in general, the tumours can have comparatively high vascularity. The term implies that the tumour consists only of choriocarcinoma and no other germ cell components and that the tumour has not metastasized to the ovary from a gestational choriocarcinoma.
