Pure primary ovarian choriocarcinoma

Last revised by Bahman Rasuli on 24 Nov 2020

A pure primary ovarian choriocarcinoma is an extremely rare form of ovarian malignancy. It falls under the subcategory of ovarian germ cell tumors.

They are thought to account for less than 1% of ovarian tumors.

They are a type of non gestational choriocarcinoma. As with other choriocarcinomas in general, the tumors can have comparatively high vascularity. The term implies that the tumor consists only of choriocarcinoma and no other germ cell components and that the tumor has not metastasized to the ovary from gestational choriocarcinoma.
