Radiology training in Nigeria comprises a minimum of 48 months of active clinical training in radiology. There are two postgraduate colleges with faculties of radiology with similar programs:
- National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria
- West African College of Surgeons
Assessments
Candidates can sit for examinations of either or both colleges. Examinations are usually twice a year. There are three examination stages:

primary examination ("primaries")
- consists of multiple choice questions in the basic medical sciences (anatomy, physiology, pathology) and O-level general physics (mechanics, light, optics, electricity, magnetism, atomic physics, etc)
- it is usually required that candidates pass this examination before starting formal radiology training

part 1 (membership) examination
- eligibility is after a minimum of 24 months of active radiology training
- consists of examinations in radiologic anatomy, radiology physics and clinical radiology
- examination comprises of multiple choice questions, essays, clinical and anatomy image slide shows and image reporting sessions

part 2 (fellowship) examination
- candidates are eligible for this after being successful in the Part 1 examination and completing a minimum of 24 months in clinical radiology rotations
- candidates are also expected to carry out a research study during this period and submit a dissertation to the college
- examination comprises of multiple choice questions, essays, clinical image slideshow, image reporting sessions, and defense of the dissertation
