Seminal vesicle fusion is a congenital abnormality that refers to the midline fusion of the seminal vesicles.
Epidemiology
This is a very rare anomaly that has been reported in some sporadic case series and case reports in infertile men 2.
Radiographic features
Ultrasound
Only one case described seminal vesicle fusion on ultrasound 2.
It demonstrated a midline isthmus uniting medial borders of the seminal vesicles.
Treatment and prognosis
Complications
This variant is important to diagnose in the preoperative assessment since it causes significant modification of surgical procedures involving the seminal vesicles and the prostate.
The surgeon may have difficulties while releasing the neurovascular bundles during radical prostatectomy and similar operations.
