Supra-acromial bursa

The supra-acromial bursa is one of the five main shoulder bursae.

Gross anatomy

  • located subcutaneously
  • superior to the acromion
  • not usually in communication with neighboring bursae or the glenohumeral joint 1,2

Related pathology

Cases of supra-acromial bursitis have occasionally been reported in literature 3.
