A talonavicular coalition is one of the less common subtypes of tarsal coalition, the most common being talocalcaneal coalition and calcaneonavicular coalition. As with other forms of coalition, it can be osseous (synostosis), cartilaginous or fibrous.

It may be unilateral or bilateral. Most patients are asymptomatic or present with foot pain.

History and etymology
An osseous talonavicular coalition was first described by R J Anderson in 1879 2.
