Terminology
There is significant overlap in the use of tendinosis and tendinopathy, with the terms often used interchangeably in clinical practice. Tendinosis has historically been used to describe non-inflammatory degeneration as opposed to the inflammation-mediated tendinitis - given the etiology and pathophysiology of chronic tendon disorders is still yet to be fully elucidated (c. 2019), the non-etiologically specific term, tendinopathy may be most appropriate 4.
