The tensor fasciae latae muscle is the most anterior of the superficial group of muscles in the gluteal region and overlies the gluteus minimus and the anterior part of the gluteus medius.
Summary
origin: anterior superior iliac spine, anterior aspect of iliac crest
insertion: iliotibial tract of fascia lata
-
arterial supply
innervation: superior gluteal nerve (L4-S1)
action: internal rotation of thigh, thigh abduction, flexion of leg, leg external rotation, stabilization of hip and knee joints
