Tracheo-esophageal fistula is a pathological communication between the trachea and esophagus.
It can be broadly classified into two types:
congenital tracheo-esophageal fistula, which is frequently associated with esophageal atresia.
acquired tracheo-esophageal fistula: from malignancy / tuberculosis / trauma / corrosive substances ingestion.
