Unilateral renal enlargement can arise from a number of causes which include:
- duplicated pelvicalyceal system
- crossed-fused renal ectopia
- renal arterial infarction
- renal vein thrombosis
- anatomic compression of the renal vein
- compensatory hypertrophy
- acute pyelonephritis
- obstructive uropathy
- renal lymphoma
