Urinary bladder cyst

Urinary bladder cysts are considered tumor-like lesions and true simple cysts arising from the bladder wall are extremely rare ¹.

Pathology

Three types of cysts have been described ¹:

• urachal cysts: dome and anterior wall

• cloacal cysts: posterior wall

• simple cyst of the bladder wall (extremely rare)

Treatment and prognosis

Without clinical symptoms or complication, watchful waiting can be considered ¹.

Differential diagnosis

Other cystic lesions arising from or protruding into the bladder can be considered ¹:

• urinary bladder diverticulum

• dermoid cyst

• Mullerian duct cyst

• seminal vesicle cyst

• ureterocele

• hydatid cyst
