The "white knight" nodule is regarded as a benign lesion of the thyroid gland 1.
Pathology
Follicular cells, Hurthle cells, numerous small and large lymphocytes and colloid are seen on fine needle aspiration cytology of white knight nodules, which is consistent with Hashimoto thyroiditis 2,3.
Radiographic features
Ultrasound
Best identified in ultrasound imaging as a well-defined, homogenously hyperechoic nodule without internal vascularity, cystic areas or calcifications 1-3.
The white knight nodule is not considered in ACR TI-RADS classification because of the inconsistency of pattern recognition and debatable correlation with the risk of thyroid disease 4.
