Posterior urethral valves with pyonephrosis

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Urinary tract infection.

Patient Data

Age: 5 months
Gender: Male

Ultrasound reveals marked bilateral hydronephrosis and hydroureter. There is dependent echogenic debris seen throughout the renal collecting system consistent with infection (pyonephrosis).

Micturating cystourethrogram reveals marked dilatation of the prostatic portion of the urethra consistent with posterior urethral valves.
