Presentation

Cough, mild fever and shortness of breath. To exclude lung infection.

Patient Data

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male

11 pairs of ribs are noted.

There are bilateral increased bronchovascular markings, suggesting bronchitis.

No lung masses or consolidation.

Clear costophrenic angles.

Case Discussion

The presence of 11 ribs in this patient was an incidental finding. There was no known congenital anomaly in this patient.

It is important to count the number of ribs when evaluating any pediatric chest x-ray, especially in infants.
