Esophageal adenocarcinoma

A region of fixed, irregular stricturing was seen in the distal esophagus. In the supine position, a sliding hiatus hernia and gastroesophageal reflux were also demonstrated.

Subsequent CT shows some circumferential thickening of the distal esophagus and bulky mediastinal lymph nodes but no distant metastases.
Case Discussion
Patient referred for gastroscopy and esophageal biopsy.
Histopathology: Poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma of the esophagus.
In the context of the hiatus hernia and reflux, this is likely a consequence of Barrett esophagus.
