Presentation

Chronic abdominal pain. Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
ct

PEG tube.

Small bowel pneumatosis intestinalis.

6cm calcified rectolith.

All of the visualized musculature (including the arms at the edge of the images) is completely replaced with fat.

Case Discussion

Complete atrophy of the musculature with fatty replacement in keeping with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

More localized fatty replacement can occur in conditions such as polio or paralysis.
