Patient presented with recurrent syncopes. No reason could be identified and ECG was normal.

Cardiac event recorder superimposed over the heart.

Otherwise normal chest radiograph.

Case Discussion

The USB stick-like object is an implantable event recorder. The device continuously records heart activity similar to an ECG for up to 2 years and is supposed to help diagnose causes of syncopes.
