Presentation
This patient with a history of right knee replacement 1 year ago due to osteoarthritis, presented to the radiology department after falling on the right knee while doing outdoor activities 5 days ago.
Patient Data
The lateral image shows a complete transverse fracture of the patella.
Case Discussion
The above images demonstrate the right knee post-operation status with implants in-situ. The lateral image explicitly shows a transverse fracture of the patella on the right leg. There is also soft tissue swelling noted. Patella fractures are usually caused by direct force/ trauma applied. The knee was visibly bruised and swollen with tenderness around patella. The patient was fitted with a knee brace while waiting for surgery in the coming days.
