Anterior knee pain.
Patient Data
There is a well-defined ovoid lesion seen in the superior part of Hoffa's fat pad, which demonstrates bright signal intensity on T2/STIR and intermediate signal on T1. Well-marginated hypointense rim surrounding the lesion (mostly hemosiderin rim).
On SWI minimal blooming artefact is noted.
Evidence of perilesional soft tissue edema but no adjacent abnormal bone marrow signal.
Minimal amount of joint effusion.
Soft tissue density seen in the Hoffa’s fat pad. No calcific foci within.
Case Discussion
Radiological features are highly suggesting localized intra-articular tenosynovial giant cell tumor.
Localized intra-articular tenosynovial giant cell tumor has previously been called localized nodular synovitis, although this terminology is not used currently.
