Posterior urethral valve - antenatal and postnatal ultrasound

Presentation

37 weeks gestational age.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Bilateral hydronephrosis and hydroureter. Thick-walled urinary bladder with a dilated posterior urethra. Oligohydramnios (AFI - 4 to 5). Normal fetal growth. No other fetal abnormality.

Post-natal scan - 2 days age

Bilateral hydronephrosis and hydroureter. Thick-walled urinary bladder. Dilated posterior urethra. No other intraabdominal abnormality.

Case Discussion

The case shows prenatal and postnatal ultrasound findings favoring the posterior urethral valve.

A voiding cystourethrogram showed the posterior urethral valve (not uploaded, no copy right). Surgical treatment was done.
