Presentation

History of pain and swelling in the right hand for a day after slipping and landing on an outstretched hand. Swelling warmth, and redness with tenderness over the dorsal side of the right 4th & 5th metacarpal bones.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

A fracture through the neck of the right fifth metacarpal is noted, with mild palmar angulation.

Case Discussion

This case illustrates the typical appearance of a boxer fracture, but the patient claimed that he fell in the bathroom and there was no history of assault.
