Barium passes through the pharynx and upper oesophagus without stasis.

Uncoordinated peristalsis with simultaneous contraction is observed in the lower half oesophagus, inferring a corkscrew sign and suggesting a distal oesophagal spasm (DOS).

A small-sized hiatal hernia is also observed.
