Prostheses in situ for 24 years. Patient concerned re leak

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female

Intracapsular rupture of the silicon prosthetic envelopes bilaterally in these retro-mammary but not retro-pectoral prostheses.

In addition to the intracapsular rupture producing a "linguini" sign on the left, there is also extracapsular rupture of the prosthesis on the right through the host capsule into the overlying breast tissue with leak of liquid silicon into the soft tissues (arrow). Free silicon in the breast tissue infero-medially on the right (arrow in T2 fat sat image)
