Presentation

Vertigo, tinnitus and backache. Previous history of ependymoma resection.

 GRE shows extensive blooming of meninges and CSF spaces, compatible with extensive leptomeningeal siderosis (a.k.a. superficial siderosis) that may be the cause of the patient's symptoms.

Case Discussion

Presence of leptomeningeal siderosis in absence of surgical history is common with ependymoma and other vascular tumors (AVM, astrocytoma) so much so that it can aid in the diagnosis.
