Paralabral cyst of shoulder - large

Case contributed by Roberto Schubert
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Shoulder pain, especially on abduction beyond 90°.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

There is a large cyst that connects to a tiny lesion in the posterior-superior labrum and extends into the spinoglenoid notch and below the supraspinatus muscle to the suprascapular notch.

Case Discussion

Those cysts may lead to an entrapment syndrome of the suprascapular nerve, that runs through the suprascapular notch below the transverse ligament of the scapula and innervates the supra- and infraspinatus muscles. In this case, there are no signs of muscle atrophy.
