Name the cell types derived from the three haemotological elements (myeloid, erythryoid and megakaryocytic).
Myeloid - Granulocytes (these have cytoplasmic 'granules' and include neutrophils, eosinophils and basophils) and macrophages. Erythroid - Red blood cells. Megakaryocytic - Platelets.
Macro: Adrenal gland 75 x 50 x 45 mm and 90 g with thin yellow cortex and central dark red/brown to gelatinous lesion, up to 70 mm.
Macroscopic: The findings are classical with central congested, red to brown lesion and thin residual rim of yellow adrenal cortex.
Microscopic: The histology nicely demonstrates the component tissues including:
- lipid vaculoes (these are actually empty holes in histological sections as the lipid is 'washed out' during routine processing.
- haematological elements including myeloid, erythroid and megakaryocytic
