Case Discussion

The appearance of the post surgical breast can confuse; especially if you don't have the history.

The prosthesis develops varying degrees of calcification. When the prosthesis is removed the calcified capsule is sometimes left behind to more or lesser degrees. The position and lens-shaped post surgical change are typical for a submammary prosthesis.

Anecdotally I see much less prosthesis calcification now than 20 years ago.
