White-out right hemithorax - malignant pleural effusion

Presentation

Increasing shortness of breath - obvious advanced (neglected) right breast malignancy.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Large right pleural effusion with the displacement of the mediastinal structures to the right. 

Large distorted right breast cancer.

Case Discussion

The key to plain film findings in hemithorax white-out (i.e. mediastinum displaced away = effusion, displacement towards = lung collapse).
