Cavernous transformation of the portal vein

Follow-up. Known portal thrombosis.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

In this patient with chronic portal vein thrombosis, there are many serpiginous vascular structures replacing the portal vein (cavernous transformation of the portal vein). The liver is heterogeneous and a few liver hypodensities are also seen. The hepatic veins are permeable.
