Presentation

Presented with right axial proptosis

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Female
mri

Avid homogenous contrast enhancement of the sphenoid wing mass with significant right proptosis, with the sphenoid wing mass extending into the extra-conal space and edema in the inferior temporal lobe. Medial displacement of the lateral rectus from the sphenoid wing mass. Note the enhancement and thickening of the dura overlying the right cerebral hemisphere.

Case Discussion

On axial CT images and at a level of the lens, the distance from the anterior margin of the globe to interzygomatic line should not exceed 21 mm. If this distance exceeds 21 mm, it is compatible with proptosis.
