Presentation

Sepsis, dysuria and perineal pain. No significant past history.

Patient Data

Age: 63
Gender: Male

Massively enlarged prostate with marked surrounding inflammation and central liquifaction indicative of abscess.

Case Discussion

Prostatic abscess is a recognized complication of transrectal biopsy and gold seed insertion.  In this case the condition was spontaneous.
