What should be the most likely diagnosis, and how it can be confirmed?
Its a gravid uterus with gestation sac. Sonography can easily confirm the finding.
Patient wants to continue the pregnancy. Is it recommended?
CT exposure is approximately 30 mGy in abdomen and pelvis scan. Usually, patients with <50 mGy exposure may continue the pregnancy. However, in this case, patient had two exposures, during plain and contrast scan and in such situation counselling should be done for termination at this gestational age (5-8 weeks). Also, technologist may have avoided contrast study, after seeing the plain scan.
Inadvertent CT scanning of an early pregnancy shows the gestational sac with increased vascularity in the myometrium. Suspicion of early fetal pole on sagittal scan.
