Urinary bladder hernia

Presentation

Left inguinal mass (hernia) at the physical exam with a reduction of size after passing urine.

You can see pointing of bladder towards the dilated left inguinal canal  with angulation of the bladder base anteroinferiorly.

Case Discussion

The findings of CT are compatible with urinary bladder herniation into the left inguinal canal.

Herniation of urinary bladder is a relatively uncommon, however not a rare condition, where urinary bladder (or ureter) herniates into the inguinal canal, scrotal sac or femoral canal. Herniations through ischiorectal, obturator or abdominal wall openings have also been described ( less common ).
