The detection of erosions is important because they are a reflection of the aggressiveness of rheumatoid arthritis. CT is acquiring a recent role in this objective since it is the most sensitive and accurate technique to assess bone erosions. 

The CT demonstrates the proper cortical discontinuity of the erosions and can differentiate of a geode. In advanced stages, inactive, a sclerotic rim surrounds the erosions.
