What are the findings?
Cardiomegaly with a globular appearance to the cardiac border, suggesting pericardial effusion. Bilateral pleural effusions. Airspace opacification left lower zone ?collapse/consolidation
What are the radiological features of pericardial effusion on CXR?
Small effusions can be occult. Larger effusions show a globular 'water bottle' shaped outline of the heart. There may be widening of the subcarinal angle with no evidence of left atrial enlargement.
There is a globular shaped enlargement of the heart suggestive of pericardial effusion. Bilateral blunting of the costophrenic angles consistent with small bilateral pleural effusions. Air space opacity in the left lower lobe suggests consolidation or collapse.
