Right longitudinal fracture of the occipital bone, no misalignment of the bone plates.
In both faces of fractured bone, there is an acute hematoma, an epidural and a subgaleal one.
Subarachnoid hemorrhage is also noted extending through the tentorium and over the left frontal pole (contrecoup injury).
Case Discussion
An extradural hematoma is a collection of blood which forms between the inner surface of the skull and outer layer of dura.
A subgaleal hematoma describes bleeding in the potential space between the periosteum and the galea aponeurosis.
