Large left basal pleural mass adjacent to the diaphragmatic surface.
CT confirms the large pleural mass at the left diaphragm with internal calcification.
Clinical Details:
Probable fibroma. Cacification on CT. Large left basal mass
Macroscopic Description:
Three cores, the largest 5x1x1mm.
Microscopic Description:
One of these cores consists of vascular collagenous tissue in which there is a dispersed population of cytologically bland spindle-shaped cells that are immunopositive for CD34 and bcl2 but immunonegative for AE1/3, MNF116, CD31, calretinin, SI00, SMA, desmin and caldesmon.
These appearances are those of a solitary fibrous tumor (also known as submesothelial fibroma).
DIAGNOSIS:
Solitary fibrous tumor
