US performed in peripheral hospital prior to transfer images not available Aspiration performed which revealed pus. Patent distended urachus.  Enlarged distended tract extending from the dome of bladder to the umbilicus.

Case Discussion

A patent urachus is one of several urachal remenant abnormalities.  On occasion this can become infected, as in this rather extreme case.  The chief differential is a urachal carcinoma.
